Today’s Rant - Dont Get Taken Advantage Of By Casting Scams
I am going to go to the gym now and blow off some steam. I had a member send me a message about a site that contacted her asking her for several hundred dollars to help her get on a reality show. That is insane, you do not need an agent to get on Reality TV. I was once a reality TV applicant and navigated the world of online casting, it is a world riddled with scammers, swindlers, and liars and it sickens me to think someone can sit and hide behind a computer and prey upon others dreams for financial gain.
Our site is a resource, it is not a promise to be a star. Have you ever picked up a newspaper to apply to a job or gone on monster.com looking for work. Those are resources to help you find work and I liken realitywanted to a job resource, its not the end all be all but we do our best to give you the latest news, pre screen all casting directors, and help you get in touch with the decision makers who are casting in one fun online community. Of course, in order to keep it online we need monthly subscribers but we are not asking people to pay 50, 60, or 200.00 a month for representation.
I am not an expert but if you feel you have run across a scam on another site or even on ours (we hope you never will) email me and I will find out whats up. I hope those who prey upon the dreams of others find it hard to sleep at night and as King Leonidas told Ephialtes in the movie THE 300 before his death, “May You Live Forever.” You then saw Ephialtes wince knowing he would have to think about the damage he had done for the rest of his life.
Ok, I feel better now.
Here I am with my cool niece in MO from last week. She is such a smart kid and takes care of her sister who has autism. I asked her what she wants to do when she grows up and she wants to be a special education teacher…and she is only 11. I am a horrible writer by the way…..but I know how to run a website
